Winter Outdoor Education

The 5th and 6th grade students at Our Shepherd have the opportunity to experience five days of winter "outdoor education."  This hands-on experience includes history, science, outdoor skills, and activities.  In addition, the students learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation to achieve a goal.  Thanks to parental support, this program has been a highlight for many students since 1978.

Camp Sherman Lake

Our 7th grade class along with their teacher, Mrs. Cheryl Chuhran, Dr. and Mrs. Nimtz and Mrs. McLoughlin attend Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center in September. Sherman Lakes puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, while instilling an appreciation of our natural environment.

The four core values of Sherman Lake are Honesty and Responsibility (HCRR). These core values are integrated into all activities and conversation at camp.

Our students are able to experience many activities from kayaking, archery, rock climbing, capture the pig and the giant swing. In the evening students enjoy dodge ball (HCRR Style), swimming in the pool, a night hike and skits.

We thank God for this opportunity of active learning in the outdoors.
